History of Ferroperm

FERROPERM was registered in Denmark in May 1952 as a personal business to produce iron dust cores, ferrites and ceramic capacitors. In 1955, piezoelectric ceramics based on barium titanate were added to the product range. In 1958 piezoelectric ceramics based on lead zirconium titanate (PZT) were included in the product range.

The business was transferred to a limited company in 1957 - Industriselskabet Ferroperm A/S. This company has steadily expanded its activities, both expanding existing ranges and adding new ones, for example; optical interference filters.

Since the formation of Ferroperm's Piezoelectric Ceramics Division in 1958, its turnover has increased by approximately 15 % per year.

In 1989 the Piezoelectric Ceramic Division moved to modern premises to accommodate further expansion.

In 1998 Industriselskabet Ferroperm was divided into 3 independent companies: Ferroperm Magnetics A/S producing magnetic materials, Ferroperm Optics A/S producing optical interference filters and Ferroperm Piezoceramics A/S producing piezoelectric ceramic components.

The former Piezoelectric Ceramic Division, now known as Ferroperm Piezoceramics A/S, was bought by APCI Ltd. in March 2001. After one year, in April 2002, the management of Ferroperm Piezoceramics together with an investment group acquired 100% of the shares from APCI Ltd. (press release). The company remains specialised in manufacturing high-quality piezoelectric ceramics for a wide range of industrial and medical applications. We have 40 years experience in development and improvement of materials and components.

New products have continuously been developed and our product range now includes 7 types of lead zirconate-titanate, PZT, suitable for a variety of applications, bismuth titanate for use at elevated temperatures, modified lead titanate and lead metaniobate, with high anisotropy, and an electrostrictive material, lead magnesium niobate, PMN. In addition, for special applications, "HIP Quality" very low porosity ceramics can be obtained in some of the above materials.
